The Performance Experience

Day 1: FLY TO IRELAND

Your Fingal Festival of Voices experience starts with an overnight flight from North America to Dublin, Ireland.

Day 2: WELCOME TO IRELAND & THE FINGAL FESTIVAL

Upon arrival this morning in Dublin, your Music Contact International tour manager will greet your choir at the airport. Together, board your private motorcoach and transfer into the city for a locally-guided panoramic tour.

Ride along the River Liffey, by the General Post Office and the Customs House. See glorious landmarks from medieval times at St. Patrick’s and Christchurch Cathedrals. Stroll around colorful Georgian-style Merrion Square, Trinity College (the oldest and most prestigious university in Ireland), and the Grafton Street shopping district.

After lunch, settle into your Dublin hotel and refresh. An early group dinner is served at the hotel, followed by opening concerts.

Tonight, the Festival of Voices kicks off with friendship concerts hosted by ensembles based in Fingal County, just north of Dublin. It promises to be a fabulous evening of singing, mingling, and exchange with new Irish friends!

Day 3: FINGAL INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF VOICES

The Festival offers 2 tracks: Adult Choirs and Youth Choirs. Each features a day of choral activities and a day of tailored sightseeing on either Friday or Saturday.

Enjoy breakfast in your hotel, followed by a full day of festival activities, including choir competitions, interactive workshops, and opportunities to attend concerts by other ensembles. Throughout the day, the Festival Clubhouse will host events of particular interest to singers, including demonstrations on healthy singing techniques and Irish pronunciation and diction.

Tonight, international choirs are invited to attend the workplace choirs competition, where ensembles composed of local employees perform in a friendly, competitive environment. Following this fun event, experience a taste of Irish culture at a Céilí, a festive social event with Irish folk music, singing, traditional dancing, and storytelling. Afterwards, enjoy a free evening for dinner on your own.

Day 4: SIGHTSEEING IN COUNTY WICKLOW & GRAND PRIX

Enjoy sightseeing in County Wicklow, a scenic area in the countryside south of Dublin known as “the Garden of Ireland.”

Adult groups visit Powerscourt House & Gardens, one of the most beautiful manor homes in Ireland at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains, and Glendalough Monastic Site & Visitor Centre, where St. Kevin founded a monastery and famous center of learning in the 6th century. Walk around the site on ancient trails taking in the history, archaeology, and wildlife of the area.

Youth groups take a scenic stroll from Bray to Greystones with views of Ireland’s east coast and visit Russborough House & Parklands, one of Ireland’s finest stately homes. The majestic grounds offer walking trails, playgrounds, gardens, and a sheepdog demonstration for a glimpse at Irish farm life!

This evening, attend or perhaps sing in the Grand Prix Competition! Winners of each competitive category are asked to perform. Awards and acknowledgments close out the festivities.

Day 5: WORSHIP SERVICE & FESTIVAL FAREWELL DINNER

After Sunday breakfast, visit a local church where your choir is invited to sing for the service and worship alongside friendly parishioners.

The remainder of the day is open for exploring and shopping in Dublin. Optionally, an additional choral workshop or cultural activity can be arranged.

Tonight, a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant rounds out your exciting musical stay in Ireland.

Day 6: FLY HOME OR EXTEND YOUR STAY

After breakfast, transfer to Dublin Airport for your return flight home or extend your stay in Ireland. Ask us about additional days of touring in Ireland, and when it’s time to go, we’ll send you off with memories to last a lifetime.
